EarthCacheing is a free, real-world outdoor treasure hunt. Players locate, using a GPS or Smartphone, and visit a unique geoscience feature or aspect of the Earth, and then share the experience on line. The most exciting way to learn about the Earth and its processes is to get into the outdoors and experience it first-hand. Visiting an Earth- Cache site is a great outdoor activity the whole family can enjoy. The Geological Society of America (GSA) administers the listing of EarthCache sites around the world. The Barberton Makhonjwa Geotrail is one of the world’s “must see” EarthCaches.
